Who are we ?
Not just another literacy intervention!
EdNest’s pathway is a specialised structured literacy programme designed for pupils who have finished phonics but still struggle with reading and spelling, particularly dyslexic learners. It strengthens their existing phonological knowledge and moves them into the science of word structure—patterns, conventions, syllable parts, and how English words actually work. This fills the critical post‑phonics gap that current software programmes do not address.
Handwriting remains one of the most powerful tools for teaching spelling, decoding, and word structure—especially for dyslexic learners. Research from 2025–2026 shows that handwriting activates more of the reading brain than typing, strengthening grapheme–phoneme mapping, letter‑formation routines, and multisensory processing. When pupils write by hand, they slow down, notice patterns, attend to structure, and engage the motor, visual, and linguistic systems needed for deep learning. Typing supports speed and accessibility, but it encourages guessing, skipping, and reliance on autocorrect, leading to shallower processing of spelling patterns.
EdNest’s handwriting‑first approach is fully aligned with structured literacy and orthographic‑mapping research. By focusing on conventions, morphology, syllable structure, and multisyllabic decoding, handwriting reinforces the very skills dyslexic pupils need to build strong reading and spelling foundations. Software can support extended writing, but handwriting builds the underlying skill. This is why EdNest uses booklets, written practice, and structured handwriting tasks: because they work.
EdNest for schools offers full access to our EdNest Structured Literacy levels 3 to 6, delivering full year of three lessons per week with lesson booklets, children’s workbooks, and corresponding colour coded word cards.
You will also have access to baseline, end of unit and ready to progress diagnostics. This is a full school-access package, available for £400 per year.
